The Spring Season...April 15 to May 15 These are salmon that stay in the deep pools in the river , under 2 -3 feet of ice after spawning late in the fall and then work their way back to Sea after ice out in early April. These salmon are fished for with streamer flies that represent small fish which they feed on in Spring while returning to sea. The Summer & Fall season starts May 16 - Oct. 15 By Mid May most of these salmon have returned to sea and the new run of Atlantic Silver salmon & Trout are returning from sea, and continue coming up the river until late fall & Spawn in early Nov. June & July are usually the best Summer months for Salmon & Trout and is fly fishing only with small flies, (hook size) 6 to 10 to represent many of the hatches of flies baby salmon or Parr feed on, for 3 yrs which at this time return to sea at app. 6".
The Fall Season ... Sept. 15 - Oct. 15 This is an excellent time for Salmon as it is nearing Spawning time, and also plenty of hunting at this time like Black Bears, White Tail Deer & Game birds. Males return to the river after 1 year 22 - 25" weighing 4 - 6 lbs. Females stay at sea 2 years & return at 28 - 34" weighing 10 -14 lbs. Fishing License Season $110 U.S. includes 8 tags for 8 salmon 7 Day $60 U.S. includes 4 tags for 4 salmon 3 Day $30 U.S. includes 3 tags for 3 salmon. You can hook & release 4 Salmon per day, or retain one & release 3. This also includes 5 trout 7" or longer. Legal size for Salmon 25" and less. All large Salmon over 25" are released for spawning.
